IC certification

IC is the abbreviation of Industry Canada of Industry Canada. As a government agency, it stipulates the testing standards for analog and digital terminal equipment, is responsible for the certification of electronic and electrical products entering the Canadian market, and stipulates that EMC certification must be passed for imported electronic products. Its responsible products are roughly broadcast and television equipment, information technology equipment, radio equipment, telecommunications equipment, engineering medical equipment, etc. Similar to the US FCC, IC currently only limits electromagnetic interference.

There are two main ways of IC certification:

(1) IC self-declaration
(2) IC ID certification

The necessity of IC certification：

IC certification is a pass for electronic and electrical products to enter the Canadian market. Only through EMC certification can they enter the Canadian market for sales, which is a guarantee of quality and is more likely to be favored by customers.

IC certified product type：

A) IC: issued by the laboratory that obtained the IC site registration code

B) IC ID: audited and issued by FCB/TCB


IC certification process：
IC certification
(1) The manufacturer or agent submits an oral or written preliminary application to the certification company.
(2) The applicant fills out the application form, and sends the application form, product manual and technical documents to the certification company, and if necessary, provides a prototype.
(3) The certification company draws up a plan and quotes.
(4) The applicant confirms the quotation, signs back the quotation, and sends the samples and relevant technical documents to the certification company.
(5) The applicant provides technical documents.
(6) The certification company issues a charging notice to the applicant, and the applicant prepays the certification fee according to the charging notice.
(7) The certification company reviews technical documents and organizes related certification activities.
(8) If the technical documents are incomplete or the prescribed language is not used, the certification company will notify the applicant of the improvement.
(9) If the test fails, the certification company will notify the applicant in time and decide whether to suspend the project according to the decision, allowing the applicant to improve the product. Applicants should modify the technical information in the original application to reflect the actual situation after the change.
(X) For the rectification costs involved in Articles 9 and 10 of this page, the certification company will issue a supplementary charge notice to the applicant.
 (11) The applicant shall pay the rectification fee according to the supplementary charge notice.
 (12) The certification company provides the applicant with a test report or technical documents and certificates.

 IC ID certification

Steps (1) to (12) are equivalent to IC certification
(13) The test report and materials are submitted to the FCB/TCB agency for review and certification.

 
Technical information to be submitted for IC certification：

1. "Application Form"
2. Equipment model technical manual or technical manual, internal maximum working frequency of the product, circuit schematic diagram and instruction manual
3. Label

Technical information to be submitted for IC ID certification：

1. "Application Form"
2. IC ID number (up to 14 digits, CN (company code 6 digits) + product code 8 digits)
3. Local agent authorization letter
4. Block diagram: need to draw all crystals and crystal frequency, and keep consistent with the circuit diagram;
5. Circuit diagram
6. Line description: The requirement is in English, and the function realization principle of the product shall be described clearly;
7. Instruction manual
8. Test report
9. The label of each model (IC cannot be applied in series) and the location of the label: the label must have an IC ID number, and the location of the label needs to be significant;
10. Product internal photos, appearance photos: require the pictures to be clear and clear, and add notes if necessary;
11. Test photo
12. Technical specifications (including the product's transmission frequency, number of channels, transmission power, modulation method, etc.)

Certification cycle：
1. IC: 1-2 weeks
2. IC ID: 3-4 weeks
