REACH
Time:2020-6-10 18:48:21 Click:
REACH refers to EU regulations "Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals". This is a proposal for regulations concerning the safety of chemical production, trade, and use. Unlike the RoHS directive, REACH covers a much wider range. In fact, it will affect the products and manufacturing processes of almost all industries from the mining industry to textile and clothing, light industry, electromechanical and other industries.
REACH SVHC test
Substances of high concern (SVHC) may be present in mixtures such as paints, inks, and glues, or in items such as toys, furniture, and electronics. Under REACH, all members of the supply chain are required to fulfill SVHC-related obligations.
At WSCT, we provide REACH SVHC testing services for all consumer products to help you meet REACH compliance and improve your internal business processes.
What is the material of high concern?
Substances of high concern refer to substances that pose serious risks to human health and the environment. SVHC substances may:
Causes cancer (carcinogenic)
Gene mutation (mutagenic)
Toxic to reproduction
It has other harmful characteristics and exists for a long time in the environment (sustained)
Gradually accumulate in animals (bioaccumulation)
REACH aims to control the use of these substances through licensing and restrictions, and forces manufacturers and suppliers to use safer alternatives or technologies within a reasonable time frame.
What is your responsibility?
article:
If you are an EU goods supplier and the SVHC content in your product is ≥0.1% w/w, you must notify SVHC information to the entire supply chain. At least the name of the SVHC must be reported. If consumers request it, you must also provide them with information on the safe use of SVHC within 45 days.
Starting from June 2011, in addition to the notification responsibility, if the total amount of SVHC in articles of the EU is greater than 1 ton per year, it must be notified to the European Chemicals Agency. For retailers that import a wide variety of products from various countries and suppliers, this can be a challenge.
Consumer-oriented mixture:
If you are an EU supplier who provides mixtures to consumers, and the content of SVHC in the mixture is ≥ 0.1% w/w, you may need to provide a safety data sheet based on the requirements of downstream users or distributors. This requirement is in addition to the obligations in the Dangerous Preparations Directive 1999/45/EC and CLP Regulation 1272/2008/EC.
SVHC test
SVHC may be introduced into consumer products intentionally or unintentionally through the supply chain and manufacturing processes. Laboratory tests provide information about the identification and concentration of SVHC substances to help companies fulfill their REACH SVHC obligations.
