CE-RED certification
CE-RED certification
1) The 999/5/EC directive has been implemented for many years, and the existing products cannot be satisfied in many places. The EU began drafting a new directive in 2007, but not so fast that it submitted a draft to the Commission in 2011.
22 May 2014 The Radio Equipment Directive (Red) 2014+EU
Formally published in the EU official Gazette (OJ) and effective on 12 June 2014, the amendment directive will replace the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (R&TTE Directive). By 12 June 2016, the Member States shall translate the amendment Directive into the law of the member States, and the original R&TTE Directive (1999EC) will also become invalid.
From 13 June 2016, Member States shall adopt the New Radio Equipment Directive (RED); From 13 June 2017, products that comply with the old R&TTE directive will not be allowed on the EU market.
The new directive aims to clarify the scope of spectrum use, improve the effectiveness of spectrum use, and facilitate the implementation of regulations and market monitoring among member states.
Before wireless products can be legally sold in the EU, they must be approved for testing under the RED directive and must also have ce-Mark. Wireless remote control products must comply with RED Directive RED 2014/53/EU requirements.
Differences between the new CE-RED directive and the old R&TTE directive
1. RED product range only includes wireless communication and wireless identification devices (such as RFID, radar, motion detection, etc.). Radio frequency equipment not used for communication or identification will be controlled by ELECTROMAGNETIC compatibility EMC instructions and low voltage LVD instructions;
2. Wired communication terminal equipment (TTE) is removed, so the RED instruction is only used for wireless products;
3. The radio broadcast receiver is now included in the RED instruction (previously included in EMC instruction and low voltage LVD instruction)
4. The lower limit of instruction coverage frequency has been cancelled (the original control frequency of R&TTE was 9 kHz), while the upper limit is still 3000 GHz;
5. The evaluation opinions of the announced institutions have been replaced by the "Type inspection Certificate";
6. The manufacturer shall use the CE mark with the number of the notified body only after its quality system has been evaluated by the notified body (full Quality Assurance - Type H);
7. The requirement for type II equipment to be notified to national spectrum institutions is no longer required;
8. Labels (warning Numbers) for class II devices are no longer required, although warnings for restricted use in some countries still need to appear on product packages;
9. The CE mark is no longer required in the user manual, but the frequency band and transmission power used by the RF must be indicated in the manual;
10. Personal assessment kits are no longer controlled (i.e., do not require RED certification);
11. The new directive requires the use of a unified charger;
12. The address and contact information of the manufacturer and importer must appear on the equipment and can appear in the user manual when the equipment is too small.
Ce-red certification scope
1. Short distance wireless remote control products (SRD), such as remote control toy cars, remote alarm system, remote doorbell, remote switch, remote mouse, keyboard, etc.;
2. Professional radio remote control products (PMR), such as professional radio walkie-talkie, wireless microphone, etc.
3. CTO, CT1, CT1;
4.ISDN (digital telephone product);
5. DECT (enhanced digital wireless telephone);6. GSM and CDMA tests for mobile phones;
7. Bluetooth products such as Bluetooth headset;
8. Induction data transmission equipment with operating frequency <9 kHz;
9. Radio broadcasting receiver equipment.
Necessity of CE-RED certification
RED certification indicates that the product has met the safety requirements specified in the EU directive; It is a promise made by enterprises to consumers and increases consumers' trust in products. Products with the CE mark will reduce the risk of selling in the European market:
1. Risk of being detained and investigated by the Customs;
2. Risk of being investigated and punished by the market supervision institution;
3. The risk of being accused by peers for competitive purposes.
Ce-red test project
1. Electromagnetic compatibility test (EMC test);
2. Safety test LVD (in the new directive, this test is also required for RF products input by batteries);
3. Radiocommunication equipment testing (RF testing) in accordance with European ETSI standards;
4. Information Notification, which allows spectrum in Europe;
5. CTR(TBR) test;
6. Electrical safety and health protection tests (SAR assessment);
Materials required for CE-RED certification
1. User manual;
2. Circuit schematic diagram;
3. Circuit Block Diagram (also called module function Diagram);
4. PCB LAYOUT;
5. PCB Placement;
6. Operation description (interpretation of the other block diagram);
7. BOM LIST;
8. Label;
9. Antenna specifications (or antenna gain diagram);
10. Charger LVD report;
11. Frequency fixing software (also called frequency fixing program), which enables the transmitter module to be continuously emitted at a certain frequency point. General BT and WIFI must be provided.
